Rupert Murdoch getting divorced

Recently, a divorce case has arisen involving a famous media mogul. The businessman in question is Rupert Murdoch, head of News Corp. This reportedly will be Murdoch’s third divorce.

Murdoch and his third wife have been married for 14 years. The couple has two children: an 11-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old daughter.

Last week, Murdoch filed for a divorce in New York. In the filing, Murdoch stated that the marriage between him and his wife is irretrievably broken.

One of the significant types of issues that can come up in connection to a divorce are financial issues (such as property division). Sometimes, couples will reach agreements setting up how certain financial issues will be resolved in the event of a divorce. Agreements that are reached prior to a couple’s marriage are referred to as pre-nuptial agreements and agreements that are reached after a couple has gotten married are referred to as post-nuptial agreements.

Reportedly, both of these types of agreements were reached in relation to the marriage of Murdoch and his third wife. The couple reportedly has a pre-nuptial agreement and two post-nuptial agreements. The Reuters article which reported this story did not have any details regarding what terms these agreements contain. One wonders what specific financial issues these agreements regard and what specific impact the agreements will have on the divorce of Murdoch and his wife.

Another important issue that can arise in connection to a divorce is child custody. There are many different types of child custody arrangements. Sometimes, disputes will arise between divorcing parents regarding which child custody arrangement should be put in place. One wonders if any child custody disputes will arise in the Murdoch divorce.
