What payment forms can Texas courts order for child support?

When a Texas court issues a child support order, there are many different things that the order typically specifies. Some of the main ones include who will be required to pay child support and what the amount of the child support obligation will be.

Another is the payment form the child support is to take. When one thinks of child support payments, one likely thinks of monthly payments. Periodic payments, such as monthly payments, are very common in Texas child support orders. However, they are not the only payment form that courts are allowed to order in relation to child support under Texas Law

The other child support payment forms Texas law authorizes courts to order are: lump-sum payments, property set-asides, annuity purchases and combinations of any of the allowed payment forms.

There are many different things that can contribute to what particular manner of child support payment is best suited for a given family. Having the right payment form for a given family's situation put in place can be very important, as it may be able to help ensure that the child does in fact get proper financial support. Thus, a court's decision of what payment form to specify in a child support order can be a very impactful and important one.

Given that there are many different things that child support orders can set, child support proceedings can be very involved and complex proceedings. Thus, having experienced legal representation during such proceedings is something that parents may find to be a very beneficial thing.
