Plano and Arlington among cities with biggest rises in divorced population

A great many things have changed population-wise in the U.S. since 1970. One of these things is that the divorced population in the country has grown considerably.

This growth in divorced population has not been uniform across the country. Rather the growth rates vary considerably from region to region. According to a recent report, two cities in our area of Texas are among the cities that saw the biggest growth in divorced population between 1970 and 2010: Plano and Arlington.

The report used population data to determine which U.S. cities of over 250,000 people (as of 2010) had the biggest percent increase over the 1970-2010 period in what proportion of the total population divorcing individuals made up. The report found Plano to have the third largest increase and Arlington to have the twelfth largest increase.

Plano and Arlington were two of the four Texas cities that made the list. The other two were Corpus Christi (ranked 5th) and El Paso (ranked 18th). No other state had as many cities make the list as Texas did.

What do you think the big increase in divorced population in Plano and Arlington has had on how people view divorce in those cities and in the region? What do you think are the most common reasons for divorce in the region?

Whatever the reason a person is divorcing their spouse, they should consider having a skilled family law attorney help them with their divorce. Divorces involve many life-impacting legal issues and trying to handle these issues without skilled legal guidance could lead to critical mistakes.
