Sometimes, after a child support arrangement is reached, a change in circumstances occurs. One example of such a change is a change in the financial situation of either the paying parent or the receiving parent. Sometimes, in response to a change in financial circumstances, a paying or receiving parent will make a request for a modification to the existing child support arrangement. There are many different things courts consider when making decisions regarding child support modification requests. Thus, child support modification cases can have a great many complex aspects.

Recently, a celebrity child support modification case has come up. The case involves singer Marc Anthony and former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres. Anthony and Torres are ex-spouses; they got divorced in 2004.

The former couple has two children: a 12-year-old son and a 10-year-old son. Under the current child support arrangement regarding these two children, Anthony pays $13,000 a month to Torres.

Torres is now taking legal action to try to get this arrangement modified. Torres argues that Anthony’s earnings have increased quite a bit since the child support arrangement was set up and that, consequently, he should be required to pay more in child support. She is seeking to have the amount of the child support payments raised to $112,000 a month.

According to the sfgate.com article which reported this story, Anthony plans to contest the child support modification request Torres is making. A representative of Anthony has said that Anthony has been very financially supportive of the two above-mentioned children.

It will be interesting to see what occurs in the court proceedings regarding Torres’ child support modification request.
