Phyllis Lyons files for divorce from Adam Arkin

On Behalf of The Shapiro Law Firm | Aug 14, 2013 | Divorce

Recently, some divorce news has arisen regarding a celebrity couple: actor Adam Arkin and actress Phyllis Lyons. Lyons and Arkin have played roles in many movies and TV shows. Arkin’s body of work includes “Chicago Hope” and “Sons of Anarchy” and Lyons’ body of work includes “All My Children.”

Arkin and Lyons got married over a decade ago. Recently, Lyons filed a petition for a divorce. In this petition, Lyons cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

There are a wide variety of issues that can arise in relation to a divorce.

One of the major issues that can come up in connection to a divorce is child custody. Arkin and Lyons have an 8-year-old son. Lyons has made a request to a court regarding the custody of the child. She is asking for a child custody arrangement in which she and Arkin share legal and physical custody of the child. One wonders if Arkin will agree to the arrangement Lyons has requested or if he will request a different arrangement.

Another important issue that can arise in relation to a divorce is property division. Celebrity divorces, like this one, can be fairly high-asset divorces and thus can involve major property division issues. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in regards to property division in this divorce.

Divorce-related issues, like child custody and property division, can have many complex aspects and how such issues are ultimately resolved can have major effects on both of the parties to a divorce. Thus, what happens in a divorce case can be very impactful. Consequently, having an experienced family law attorney on one’s side can be very important when going through a divorce.
