Paulina Rubio accused of concealing earnings during divorce

On Behalf of The Shapiro Law Firm | Nov 18, 2013 | Divorce

Last week, we discussed some family law news that came up involving “X Factor” judge Simon Cowell. Now, some divorce-related news has arisen regarding another “X Factor” judge, Paulina Rubio.

Rubio and her ex-husband got divorced in March. In their divorce proceedings, the two reached a settlement. Included among the terms of this divorce settlement was a term setting that, for three years, Rubio will make spousal support payments to her ex-husband of $6,750 per month.

Recently, Rubio’s ex-husband has made a claim to a court that Rubio acted improperly during their divorce proceedings. Specifically, he alleges that, during these proceedings, Rubio concealed earnings from her TV work, including her work on “The X Factor.” In relation to these allegations, Rubio’s ex-husband is asking that Rubio be required to pay him more than what was stipulated under the settlement.

Rubio denies that she engaged in any improper conduct regarding her financial disclosures during the divorce proceedings.

It will be interesting to see what happens in regards to these hidden earnings allegations.

Proper financial disclosures during divorce proceedings can be essential in fair divorce settlements being reached. Thus, a great deal of harm can occur when one of the parties to a divorce hides assets or earnings or commits other dishonest conduct in relation to such disclosures.

As this case shows, individuals will sometimes take legal action in relation to alleged dishonest divorce-related financial disclosures. Cases involving such allegations can get very complex. Thus, if a person is pursuing legal action in connection to concealed asset allegations, it can be very beneficial to have an experienced and knowledgeable family law attorney in one’s corner.
