It appears that a custody battle may occur in the divorce of film icon Clint Eastwood.
In October, Eastwood’s wife filed a petition for a divorce. Prior to this filing, she and Eastwood had been married for 17 years. The two have a teenage daughter who is still a minor.
In relation to the divorce, Eastwood’s wife is requesting full physical custody of the teenager. It appears that Eastwood plans to contest this request. According to a recent article on the Huffington Post’s website which reported on this matter, Eastwood desires a joint physical custody arrangement. One wonders if this will end up developing into a full-blown custody battle and, if it does, what resolution will be reached in it.
Sometimes, disputes between divorcing parents regarding how custody will be assigned are sorted out through a settlement. However, divorcing parents aren’t always able to come to an agreement on this issue. When this happens, the matter generally ends up coming before a court. When deciding what child custody arrangement to assign, the main thing courts look at is what is in the best interests of the child. There are numerous factors that can play a role in a court’s determination as to what custody arrangement is in a child’s best interests. Thus, there are a great many issues that child custody court cases can involve.
Experienced family law attorneys understand how complex child custody cases can get and can help parents who are in custody negotiations or court proceedings regarding custody.
